This October and November the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra have got some fantastic events to inspire young people to get in to music. With concerts performed by young people, and concerts for young people, they have options for the whole family to enjoy.
First up, is the CBSO Youth Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky's classic, The Nutcracker, in full on Sunday 28 October 2012 at 7.30pm. Performed at the CBSO's home at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, the concert will also feature the talents of the CBSO Childrens Chorus. Former musical director of the Bolshoi Ballet Alexander Vedernikov will take the reins as conductor for this memorable evening of music and young talent. Tickets cost 20, and can be bought online at the CBSO website.
Mad Hatter's Tea Party
On 18 November 2012 at 3pm, there's a chance to tumble down the rabbit hole for the magical Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Featuring music from Berlioz, Mussorgsky, Debussy and Leroy Anderson; the CBSO will conujure up the mad and magical world of Alice in Wonderland at the Symphony Hall for this fun-filled Family Concert.
With free pre-concert craft workshops in the foyer from 1.30pm, fancy dress is also encouraged so why not go along as your favourite character from the book? Sounds like great fun to us!
Tickets cost 15 for adults, 7.50 for under 16's, or any group of four people can go for 32. More information on this and other concerts coming up can be found on the CBSO website.
