What’s your favourite item for sale in the shop right now?
Our expertly restored antique Pleyel baby-grand piano has to be seen to be believed! Originally built between 1898-99 in the Parisian Pleyel factory, this piano has undergone a full internal restoration consisting of a brand new roller action, as well as an external casework repolish. Expert care has been take to maintain the excellent sound quality and touch synonymous with the Pleyel brand, and alongside the stunning ‘Empire Style’ decorative woodwork this piano is a truly showstopping instrument. You can see the piano and hear how it sounds in our behind the scenes video “Playing a Pleyel” on YouTube.
Name a favourite piece of music!
I have always loved ‘Rhapsody On A Theme By Paganini’, Op.43 Variation 18 by Rachmaninoff. It reminds me of my father playing the piece on our family piano when I was a child, and was one of many pieces that inspired me to start learning the piano myself and go on to do my music degree.
Do you get involved in your local community? If so, how?
Yes, we regularly take part in and sponsor local events which support music and music education in and around Wimbledon. Most recently we had a very successful Learn to Play Day where we offered free taster piano lessons, and we also hosted the Wimbledon Piano Competition in June and a Piano Recital at Holy Trinity Church, South Wimbledon.
