The Early Music Shop is located within Snape Maltings in the village of Snape, Suffolk, five miles from Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast and just two hours by train from London.
The Early Music Shop is the world's largest early music instrument specialist, formerly part of Woods Music Shop in Bradford. The 3,000 sq.ft Saltaire showroom, based at Salts Mill has been described as an ‘Aladdin's Cave’ of affordable early music instruments, many of which are designed in-house by our team of early music workshop technicians, and from makers from all quarters of the globe. The range including recorders, viols, lutes, harps, crumhorns, harpsichords, spinets, shawms, hurdy-gurdies, rebecs, mediaeval fiddles, re-enactment percussion. In addition the showroom is home to a fabulous selection of Camac lever and pedal harps.

The Manchester branch of Hobgoblin opened in December 1998. This was the first UK Hobgoblin shop to be run by another company. Based in the well known Johnny Roadhouse shop in Oxford Road, in a first floor showroom, it allows us to improve our service to customers in the North West.
After many years of successful trading in Berkshire, Hickies decided to expand and opened a music store in Tiverton (Devon) under the leadership of the Legendary Mark Werner. Since our Tiverton’s branch opening in 1994 we have supplied, moved and delivered Pianos in areas such as: Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Exeter, Barnstable, Taunton, Plymouth, Bodmin, Bristol, Bath, Weston Super Mare and Torquay. Mark continues to run Hickies Tiverton to this day.
